Frequently Wondered

You can get any book you want!

We carry a variety of books on every subject, and our warehouse allows us to provide additional books that we can’t fit in our store. We can order religious texts, textbooks, books that are yet to release, that weird, obscure book that you just heard of—almost everything!

You can place an order in-store, over the phone, or online at no extra cost.

Orders typically take between 3-5 business days to arrive at our store. You can pick up your order, have it shipped anywhere in the world, or have it delivered directly to your door in Tallahassee!

Do you want it now though?

We understand. You can see which books are currently in our store in our online shop. Books available for same-day pick-up will say "On Our Shelves"!

Audiobooks are also available through our partner Libro.fm. Their selection is amazing, and a percentage of your purchase supports Midtown Reader! Please consider switching from Audible to Libro.fm!

Got a book addiction? We’re rewarding it!

Because we do too. Become an Indie Insider! Indie Insiders are our frequent buyers and our most dedicated readers. Wait, back to the fellow bookish people thing…

We know. That was exciting. Let us explain.

Our Midtown Reader book clubs meet monthly, exploring a variety of themes and genres. Our booksellers lead rotating themes every 3 months so that we can tackle it all. All of our book clubs have subscription boxes available, and our book club books are always offered at a 10% discount. Visit our Book Clubs page for more information!

We also work with local book clubs featuring their titles on our book club shelves. Register with us, and we’ll order copies for your club members and offer the same 10% discount.

Books pair perfectly with coffee. And wine. And snacks!

It doesn’t seem right to have books without those things! We're proud to have our very own Piebrary, which serves pie by the slice, coffee, and tea! Come take a seat in our cafe and bar space with a book!

Our animals love reading as much as we do!

We are a dog-friendly establishment. Argonaut even provides pup cups, and rumor has it, that we keep a few treats in the bookstore behind the register for our furry friends. Our patio also provides a great place to cool off and read with your dog in tow.

It’s a dream to work in a bookstore!

That’s how we got started! Our owner has always dreamed of owning a bookstore since she was a little girl. Come join us in the dream! We are always accepting applications, which can be found in-store. You can also follow our social media to see when we are hiring!

Additionally, we offer seasonal internships to our high school and college friends for course credit. If interested in internships, contact us at info@midtownreader.com.

Reading with a cause? No way!

It’s true! We love to support local organizations and partner with non-profits! Our direct donations are focused on educational organizations with a mission of promoting learning and literacy. If we can help your organization, please fill out this form and let us know about your goals!

Midtown Readers regularly help us support the community by purchasing books to donate through our annual Holiday “Book Tree” event in partnership with United Way of the Big Bend, which provides books to children in Title I schools. You also help us support summer reading camps and other programs!

We are dedicated to building strong relationships with Tallahassee and the community in it. We partner with the writing communities of Florida State University's nationally ranked Creative Writing Program, the nation's top HBCU, Florida A&M University, and one of the nation's highest-ranked community colleges, Tallahassee Community College. We also partner with local literary, art, and historical organizations, such as the Tallahassee Writers Association, the Railroad Square Art District, The Holocaust Education Resource Center, the Tallahassee Historical Society, Young Actors Theatre, and many others. We love our city and strongly believe in shopping locally and creating the community that we want to be a part of.

And there’s still so much more to know! Ask any of our booksellers by calling our store or emailing info@midtownreader.com for any more questions. We promise we either know the answer or can find out for you!
